In this article, you will find out about the process happening behind the scenes of producing Detective-Trails, but first of all, if you would like to find out more detail about what our treasure hunt actually is, you can read about it in another article that you can find here.
First of all: There can be two starting points, tourist office or a company, etc. asking us to produce trail for them, or we do it on our own because we think that location is relevant and interesting for having a detective trail over there. At this point, we are searching for a partner who would be able to provide a prize for participants at the end of the trail. In a situation when tourism organization asked us to make one, it is them providing the prize.
Once the location is decided, we dig into google maps and have a look onto where would be nice to go, we try to find interesting information about the city, parks, some historical facts that are not commonly known, but interesting to share. Then the big day comes. We go to the location, sometimes it is a place, a city that we completely don’t know, but it is not an issue, we start producing the trail. This is the moment when everything we prepared in our head in advance, usually gets changed. The starting point is a place commonly known as a train station, city hall or simply location everyone would find easily.
Every creation of a Detective-Trail is an adventure for us and even though we prepare a lot before we go out and create it, there are many surprises and interesting spots to find on the way. What we focus on is something unique that you will find on the way, not a fact that can be searched online and easily found to answer the puzzle correctly. Our puzzles are tricky and you never know what the next one might be about. Such as searching for signs that are usually hiding on the building facades, pavements, doing mathematical calculations with dates, time and many more. We try to show you things that you would possibly not notice without our treasure hunt. Additionally, we inform about the locations of the riddles, this can be historical fact or a fun fact, such as info about first underground toilets in Copenhagen, dating to 1900, located on Amagertorv. Simply, you never know what kind of fact you might learn about when you are out on our Detective-Trails.
Let’s move into the next step. Once we created the riddles, took the pictures, we go back to the office and put it all in one document. After that, we are uploading treasure hunt to the system, so it will be visible in the Detective-Trails app. At this point, we ask the organization that ordered the Detective-Trail to test it. In the trails that we produce on our own, it is usually a friend, family member or a partner giving the prize at the end of the treasure hunt, who is testing it. After receiving their feedback, we adjust the trail, test it again and the app version is ready to run. Next step is to create the printed version of our Detective-Trail, which later will be available for purchase on our website.

Testing Detective-Trail
It’s important to mention that our Detective-Trails are never finished and we always work on improving them, we check them very often to make sure they are up to date. Nowadays, world around us is changing too fast, sometimes it might happen that something seems wrong to you when you are in the middle of our Detective-Trails. You are very welcome to give us a call, we can help with the correct answer to the riddle. In general, we appreciate your feedback a lot. If you noticed that something was not as it should be, feel free to let us know. We will be happy to adjust the treasure hunt and make improvements so every participant will experience the same level of fun on our mysterious Detective-Trail.
When we know that trail is available, up to day and everything function as it should, we inform our partner, the tourism office, company that ordered the trail, that everything is ready. The last step is to guide mentioned above about the process of redeeming the voucher.
Sounds easy? Indeed, it is not a rocket science, but we still need to take care about many details.
