Your kid birthday is soon on the calendar, but you have no idea how to make it attractive for kids, friends and some of the parents. They have seen it all… nowadays parents are being very creative, but do you want to go to the funhouse for another time? Do you want to repeat the same theme your kid best friend used 2 months ago? Well, I really hope you answered ‘no’ because I would like to present to you something you could do instead. A field trip, but not an ordinary one. This one is a treasure hunt and it is called Detective Trail. Why this name? Because you will be out on this hunt with badger, our Detective Badger who will help you and guide you. You can read more about him here.
But how?
Our Detective-Trails are available in mobile version and as printable one. In this case, I would go for print. Why? It is kind of old school to do it on paper and your kids are probably very familiar with looking at different screens during the day (TV, iPads, smartphones), so actually paper might be an exciting tool to use. Just visit www.detective-trails.com and find the one in your city. Hopefully, it exists there, but if not, it might be there very soon. Decide about the number of participants, make the purchase and print your Detective-Trails. That’s it. Really. Divide the copies of the treasure hunt among the kids and together with a couple of parents go out there and explore. It’s so much fun. And if you think that it is only for kids, you will probably get surprised when you also find it difficult to answer correctly some of the puzzles. It will be all about being attentive to detail, listen to Detective Badger comments, routes descriptions and questions. Depending on the location, some of the Detective-Trails end with treasure box with a prize for those who solved it, some of them will end at the café or restaurant that will provide you with a prize in a size of a muffin or an ice cream, but some of them are just about fun and the experience.
Those are a bit cheaper but provide the same level of excitement. Some of our Detective-Trails are located in the city centers, some will be in parks or other interesting areas. Among the trail, there will not only be puzzles to solve, but also interesting information about the location to be found. All participants will learn facts about the places they will visit on the treasure hunt. Interesting and surprising facts, not just the historical ones.
Equip yourself with some food and drinks and you could even make a picnic in the middle the Detective-Trail. I’m pretty sure there will be good locations for that. Another idea would be to divide kids into two groups and make them compete against each other. A little bit of competition always gives extra excitement to the activity. There are plenty of possibilities. Of course, do not forget about the birthday cake. This can be done once you come back home from this adventurous field trip. Kids will be tired but happy and what is very important to mention, they just spent a couple of hours in the fresh air! Maybe you liked it so much that for your next team building at work, you will decide to go out for one of our Detective-Trails as well, who knows? : – )
If you would like to get some more reading about what our Detective-Trails are all about, you can do it here. You can also watch a video about Detective-Trails, after this I think you will get the full idea about it. You can watch it below:
